Julian Klymochko, CFA – CEO & CIO, Accelerate Fintech 1,2,4

Julian is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Accelerate Financial Technologies Inc. (“Accelerate”). Accelerate is leading innovation in financial services as a leader in institutional-caliber hedge fund and private equity ETFs for investors seeking long-term performance. Prior to founding Accelerate in February 2018, Julian was the Chief Investment Officer of Ross Smith Asset Management where he managed a number of alternative investment strategies for nearly a decade. He founded and managed a top performing Canadian alternative fund in 2017. Julian also managed a 6-time award winning market neutral hedge fund and founded an award-winning event-driven arbitrage fund. Prior to Ross Smith Asset Management, he was an Analyst at BMO Capital Markets. He attended the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science (Engineering) and a Bachelors of Commerce (Finance). Julian is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. He is the author of the book Reminiscences of a Hedge Fund Operator and host of the Absolute Return Podcast.

Carman McNary, Q.C., ICD.D., LLD (Hon) – Counsel, Dentons 2,3

Carman commenced his law practice in Edmonton in 1981, and since 1999 has been with Dentons Canada LLP (formerly FMC), most recently as Counsel. He practices tax and corporate law and provides strategic advice to organizations and boards. He was previously Managing Partner (Edmonton office) and National Tax Lead (Canada).  Beyond law, Carman is a director of a number of private companies, and has chaired and served on a wide variety of community and non-profit entities and organizations. Carman completed the Director Education Program in 2013. He also served as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Armed Forces, from 1975 – 2008, retiring with the rank of Captain (Navy) after appointments in command at sea and ashore as well as international appointments.  Carman was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2010, and awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of Alberta in June, 2019. His community service and leadership have also been recognized with the award of both the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals

Eric Sauze, CFA, CA – CFO, JAG Flocomponents 1,2

Eric is the Chief Financial Officer of JAG Flocomponents Ltd., a manufacturer and distributor of valves to the North American oil & gas industry. Eric has also held the roles of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer with the industrial distribution companies Commercial Solutions Inc. (a TSX listed company) and CFE Industries Ltd. (a TSX Venture Exchange listed company). While working with the international accounting firm KPMG, he received his CPA designation (Chartered Accountant) in 1992. In addition, he earned his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2001.  Mr. Sauze is currently a director and the Audit Committee Chair for Bri-Chem Corp., a distributor of drilling fluids listed on the TSX.

Michèle McCarthy, LLM, ICD.D – President and CEO, Independent Review Inc.1,2

Michèle brings over 25 years of diverse board experience for public companies, crown corporations and not-for-profits, holding roles such as Board Chair and the Committee Chair for Audit, Risk, Pension, and Nominating/Governance. She is currently the President and CEO of Independent Review Inc., a firm offering bespoke corporate governance solutions to the investment fund industry, as well as the President of McCarthy Law Professional Corporation, a law firm offering expertise in corporate and regulatory matters. Michèle is presently the Audit Chair for a premier publicly traded gold mining company. Her past public company board seats span across several sectors including mining, financial services, technology as well as several Crown corporations and not-for-profit organizations. She holds an LLM in Securities Law and an LLB from Osgoode Hall at York University, an MA from the University of Windsor, a BA from the University of Toronto and her ICD.D designation.

Alice Reimer, MBA – CEO, Co-Founder, Fillip2

Alice is currently the CEO, Co-Founder, and a Director at Fillip, an enterprise mobile wallet solution and vertical payment platform, and is Site Lead at Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Rockies at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. She co-founded and is a current director of The51, a Financial FeministTM platform providing access to female-capital for female-led businesses. Most recently, Alice was the CEO of Chaordix, a pioneering software leader in the crowdsourcing and open innovation space, and prior thereto, she co-founded, led and was a director of Evoco, taking the SaaS-based firm from initial concept through to a profitable acquisition by a U.S. based technology firm. In addition to board positions at Fillip and The51, Alice serves on the board of Syantra Diagnostics Inc. along with two not-for-profit organizations, and previously, was director of Cortex Business Solutions (TSXV: CBX). Alice holds an MBA and a BSc from the University of Calgary.

Adam O’Brien – Founder & CEO, Bitcoin Well 3

As President, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Bitcoin Well, Adam O’Brien is a leading advocate for education, consumer protection and the decentralization of financial services. In 2013, Adam bought his first bitcoin, and after seeing the growth potential within the space, he purchased and installed Bitcoin ATMs at strategic locations across Canada. Given the exponential growth of the market, he founded Bitcoin Well (formerly ‘Bitcoin Solutions’), which is the first publicly traded Bitcoin ATM company in the world. Adam serves as Co-chair of the Fintech Committee for the Canadian Blockchain Consortium, Canada’s largest non-profit network of blockchain companies and influencers. He is recognized as a true visionary in the field and strives to bring bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to the mainstream making them easy, approachable and accessible for all.

Dave Bradley – Chief Revenue Officer, Bitcoin Well 2,3

Dave Bradley is a prominent figure in the bitcoin industry and is widely considered one of the leading experts in Canada on bitcoin, cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Prior to his current role as the Chief Revenue Officer at Bitcoin Well, Dave founded the world’s first bricks-and-mortar bitcoin store and co-founded the successful company, Bull Bitcoin, which is Canada’s longest-serving bitcoin brokerage. He also serves as a Vice President for the Canadian Blockchain Consortium, Canada’s largest non-profit network of blockchain companies and influencers.
